Steve received his Ph.D. in Microbiology from Colorado State University in 1996 and joined the National Renewable Energy Laboratory to study biomass conversion to fuels and chemicals. He is currently a Group Manager/Senior Scientist V, managing and mentoring a dozen or so scientists, engineers, post-docs, and interns focused on projects in fungal molecular genetics, cellulase biochemistry and engineering, high throughput robotics screening of biomass digestibility, and anaerobic digestion of waste biomass to methane and organic acids.
